“Future Heritage” is a collaborative project in the field of visual arts, handcrafts and technology, which wants to transform local heritage and knowledge for a sustainable, global society.
Local communities (handicraftsmen and -women in the field of embroidery and pottery) will create together with artists, designers and technologists new objects and patterns, which will be enhanced through new technologies.
We highlight cultural heritage in Palestine, which is fading and reproduce it in new forms and
techniques to develop and promote it locally and internationally.

Co-creating future heritage
With local cultures at the heart we want to promote a sustainable transformation of heritage, thereby addressing issues like the revaluation of art within craft, the recuperation and actualisation of cultural traditions and explore the artistic potential of local crafts in networked societies.
Future Heritage is a project by Sally Abu Bakr (Ramallah Municipality) and Jasmin Grimm (Public Art Lab) in collaboration with Christian Zöllner (The Constitute). The project is developed in the framework of the cultural manager exchange programme Tandem Shaml 2015/2016.
Project Partners: Goethe Institut, Freundinnen und Freunde der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Maker Faire Berlin

We want to work together beyond political agendas, look behind media stereotypes and perceive culture through real and personal experiences. Also we want the communities to understand the value of contemporary art and build bridges between global innovation and local needs.
